3 Ways to track and continue developing emotional intelligence

When I was a teenager, I started writing for a local newspaper. I was enjoying every news piece that I was writing. I initially saw this as 'Growth' that pushed me to think different and more.

Few months down the line, I began experiencing saturation in what I was doing and I wanted to do something different. I started writing for a local magazine now, as an addition. Then, I saw this as 'growth'. It suited what I was doing, and made me focus on my journey in life.

I eventually felt saturation here too and I wanted something more to work on.

I realised life is just the same. I realised we have to keep working on ourselves and keep pushing ourselves.

Here are 3 ways in which you can track saturation and try pushing for #More and #Better

  • Notice when you become agitated more often, with no reason:

One of the key signs that you are hitting the 'Saturation Blue Line' is that your body and mind are not in sync. Your brain now wants more and more of curiosity, information that's new to it and adrenaline hence. Your body won't be able to match that pace up and that would definitely land you in feeling exhausted and agitated. If you keep feeling that way, you're up for a shift.

  • When you walk into a room full of people, do you feel like you're the best?

This needn't be in a negative way all the time. But if you are with a bunch of people and you feel like you know way more than them in all spheres, and that you can definitely rip them apart in an argument - you need to feed your mind with something unknown now. In this world, there always will be things we do not know yet and might never know. If you are feeling you know it all - you're either with the wrong group or are just needing growth to push your comfort zone. You just need to find your 'Discomfort' and try your hand at that.

  • Read, read and read books! Write, write and write your thoughts

My father once told me that the only way you explore the unexplored is by reading. The only way you're prepared for the unknown is by reading. The only way you know who you are - and you carve who you want to be, is by writing your thoughts. Our minds are open battlefields and there are one too many battles happening. You have to write them all, choose your battles and have clarity in how to win them. I have a target of reading a book every month and I have a journal where I write my raw and naked thoughts.

I've always seen 'Growing as a human being' as a task that needs to be taken up willingly, consciously and seriously. What are your ways of tracking and ensuring growth in life- spiritually, emotionally and humanly grow?
